Sceptre 43The Sceptre 43 was introduced in 1995 after an extension to the 41 hull moulds incorporated a "scoop" transom to upgrade the teak swim grid of the 41. The scoop reduces drag - evidenced by a cleaner wake and the additional couple of feet of waterline while underway results in an improvement of about a half knot in speed.
Upgraded ship's electrical systems conforming to ABYC standards, and cabinetry fit & finish improvements with push button latches were also incorporated at that time. The deck tooling was modified to accommodate upgraded deck hardware to enhance sail handling. We switched the laminate schedule to a vinyl ester skin out resin and used isopthalic resins with stitched fabrics throughout.
Several of the 43 owners upgraded to electrical halyard winches (electric primaries as well in one case). Other owners opted to upgrade the deck laminate to foam core rather than the traditional balsa. This resulted in a stiffer deck with a slightly improved head room for taller owners.
In short the builder offered ever increasing opportunities for customization. The collaboration led to a range of very sophisticated boats. A highly customized raised house pilothouse that could easily handle tough conditions while the owner enjoyed safe comfort down below.
