Our ListingsWhat is it about our boats that makes them so special? We get asked that a lot. To be honest even we can't give you an exact answer. We think they are very good looking (yes we are prejudiced!) and we know they are strongly built and sail well. But that is not the complete answer. Many of the boats represent the final boat for a lot of couples who have enjoyed more basic boats and made the move to a Sceptre because they wanted enough room and equipment for comfortable all weather cruising. The owners come from all walks of life and represent a cross section of financial fortitude! What they primarily have in common is that they enjoy life and owning a boat like a Sceptre is all about making the most of their leisure time - whether in retirement or just planning (or dreaming!) to go distance cruising "one day". Bought new or used, the boats become an extension of their family and there is a lot of emotion involved with closing the chapter by selling their boat and moving on. To a lot of them the boat is not a commodity to be sold to the highest bidder. They universally want to pass the baton on to someone who will hopefully cherish their boat and time aboard as much as they have. Out of that comes a desire to personalize the process of selling. They want to meet the potential buyers and in most cases, in today's world, a dedicated brokerage company is not able to offer that option.
When our company took over Sceptre in 1993, older boats occasionally came on the market as some of the original owners gave up sailing. They would list them with a brokerage but often the potential buyers would end up calling us to discuss the boats and asking for advice regarding how they were built etc. We would end up helping to "clinch" the deal for the selling and buying brokers but would not receive any compensation for our time and effort. We continue this practice to this day, because we want to help the owners sell their boats. We enjoy talking Sceptres with anyone who is looking for more information about our boats. We do our best to give fair and honest advice to everyone.
A few years ago, an owner called up and asked us to advertise his boat and find a buyer and that more or less is how we started our listing service for the owners. It works well for the sellers but is also advantageous for the buyers. Because we built the boats originally, we are uniquely qualified to offer potential buyers in-depth knowledge of the construction and history of the boats before they buy them, as well as service and support after their purchase for as long as they own the boat.
If you are seriously considering the purchase of a Sceptre, you will find the best resources for research right here on our web site. Just click on the Yachts links for the Sceptre 41 and the 43 to learn about their handling characteristics. The photo galleries menu will lead you to slide shows featuring sailing pictures and interior shots.
At the moment we have a couple of great boats for your consideration. If you are in the market, it will be hard to choose between Indigo and Magena. Both of these boats have been well upgraded, available at very attractive pricing, and ready to take off for points unknown. Just give us a call to arrange a viewing with the owners and learn more about how the offer and buying procedure takes place.
