History of Sceptre YachtsDesigned by Hein Driehuyzen, the Sceptre 41 was built by Sceptre Yachts Ltd. from 1982 to 1993, fifty-three hulls being built in total.
In the fall of 1993 long time employee Jeff Rouse and his wife Heather purchased the assets of Sceptre Yachts Ltd. During the first year of operation two Sceptre 41s come in for refits and the tooling of the Sceptre 41 was modified to incorporate a sugar scoop platform in place of the standard teak swim grid. The first Sceptre 43 was built for a Canadian couple who were living overseas for about six months of the build time. The owners shared a vision to build a boat to a very high standard, incorporating a new cabinetry styling with push button latches, performance deck hardware, premium rig, and electrical systems to ABYC standards. AIRMANSHIP was launched in 1995, followed by MORNINGSTAR IN 1996 and a further eight super Sceptre 43s until 2002.
We relocated to Shelter Island Marina in 2003 and proceeded to build a highly customized boat, based off a Sceptre 43 hull but with a radically raised cabin floor within an elevated pilothouse - a sort of Fisher-Sceptre hybrid. That boat was launched in mid 2004 - and by then we had begun a series of major refits - not only to Sceptre 41s but also to other boats of all shapes and sizes. More about that on the Services Pages....
