DRAGONBOATS

Sceptre Marine is proud to produce the hulls for the world famous Dragonboats by Vincent Lo of Six-Sixteen Dragon Boats Ltd.  Vincent gets to make the best part - the heads!!    Six-Sixteen has a great website with tons of information about the history and dragonboat racing in general.

TOOLING

We were recently called upon to build a set of tooling - hull, deck, interior liner for a cute little electric boat to be marketed in Japan.  We sometimes make custom tooling in order to make a new part for a refit.   A Tolly 48 owner wanted a hard top for his boat.  We made a custom mould to layup the part for this project.

REPLACEMENT PARTS

If you own an older production boat or a custom one-off it is sometimes extremely difficult to source parts, as many manufacturers have come and gone over the past thirty odd years.  At times like these we can usually help by either finding a suitable replacement or manufacturing a new component. 

MOVIE EQUIPMENT

So you are shooting a movie in Vancouver, and you need to use a platform to shoot a specific scene.  The platform has a fibreglass bucket which is usually entered over the lip by work crews.  The first fix was to cut out a panel in the side of the bucket with lifeline fittings for safety.  This was deemed not fit for purpose. So the removed panel was then made into a latching door so that the actors could enter in a "ladylike" fashion   Who do you call?  Well in this case Sceptre was called upon.  No problem!?!  A quick turnaround and all was well.  Just another day for Sceptre Marine! 

OTHER REQUESTS!

Over the years Sceptre owners have had some pretty specialized requests - a cracker warming tray to keep the crackers from become damp in the marine environment, a gimballed doggie dish under the salon table, heated towel rails in the head, dive compressor in a storage locker, a fold down doggie ramp for the companionway .... Recently we've had another unusual request.  A herb garden to fit beneath the helm seat.

Whatever the request we always do our best to come up with a solution!
